5. Don’t Get Stuck in Patrol Routines

As a security guard, the last thing that you want to do is to alert a criminal to an unmonitored area. Don’t fall into the habit of making your routes predictable. When patrolling, be sure to change up your route regularly, while also varying the time intervals that you make your rounds.

For example, you can patrol at 10-minute intervals, 15-minute intervals, 20-minute intervals, etc., making sure to alternate between them. Change up the pattern of your patrol and stop at different points during your patrol so that there’s never predictable time when an area will be unmonitored.
